What I like about this Navy colour is that it could be as enjoyable and flexible as the grey shades that were so popular in the last years and you can still use it as a backdrop to place furniture and accessories around it.
Hello and Happy Friday!! I want to talk about the shade of the moment and that is Navy Blue. Have you noticed everywhere you look whether it is in interior decor or fashion design, this beautiful colour is right there in front of your eyes? Well that is because this is the colour that is trending right now and has been for a while!! There was a report from Pinterest where they revealed there was an 80% increase on pinnings with this colour so far this year, so that means we will keep seeing lots of inky hues around us! What I like about this Navy colour is that it could be as enjoyable and flexible as the grey shades that were so popular in the last years and you can still use it as a backdrop to place furniture and accessories around it. Gold is very popular everywhere right now, you see it in furniture, light fixtures, home decor accents, etc... Personally it is my favourite design trend right now, I am actually using it all over my home, I like mixing silver and gold, it looks so chic and modern!! When it comes to fixtures for your bathroom and kitchen Gold is getting very trendy, if you are starting to get bored of the same-old stainless steal fixtures and faucets, this trend is definitely one to STAND OUT and create a fresh, elegant look without having to renovate your WHOLE kitchen. Like I mentioned above I think silver and gold go great together, so don't worry about your stainless steal appliances not being "matchy-matchy"; the trick is to keep it clean and classy, mixing the warm and cool tones to create balance in a room. Nicole Davis Interiors did a great job in the picture shown below, you can see how she implemented the Gold tones in the fixtures and hardware to balance the cool tones from the marble countertops and stainless steel appliances, giving the kitchen a warm and inviting feel. Designed by Nicole Davis Interiors. In this picture below by Michael Greenberg and Associates you can see how using Gold in your bathroom doesn't have to make it feel old fashion; the Gold accents gives this room an elegant yet classic finish. From Kingston Brass Home I have to say these selections were not easy to find, I had to do a lot of research as I think Gold faucets are still a pretty new trend, there for; not a lot of suppliers carry them.
I can't wait to read your thoughts!! Is it a Yea or Nay for you? Who is the greatest of them all? When it comes to mirrors... Well, they come in all shapes and sizes! As a decorator I like to use mirrors in a home for different purposes. A mirror can bring light into a room, open up narrow hallways, it can also give the impression a place is bigger than it is. Ultimately, it can make a statement as a decorating piece adding glam to any home! It really depends on what you are looking to do with a room in order to choose the right shape, size and design of a mirror. I personally love mirrors in the dining room area, I think it makes a statement and gives any space a glamorous finish like in the picture below, I got this mirror from Home Sense for the fabulous price of $199.00. (It is hard to see the size in this picture but it is pretty big.) Another great way to display a mirror is, above a console table like in the picture below designed by AGK Design Studio. You can find a mirror similar to this one from Restoration Hardware or worldmarket.com Endless options when it comes to mirrors! Finally, one of the looks that I absolutely adore is the floor mirror with a console table in front of it. I am actually on the hunt for the perfect table to go in front of my white floor mirror at home, once I find it, I will be sure the share a photo with you!! To create this look you can find a similar mirror from Pottery Barn and the console table from One Kings Lane. Photo credit to Interiors by Steven G. Don't forget to leave your comments below... Hello, Lili here, so excited to get an extra hour of sunlight! With the temperature rising and sunshine filling our rooms longer at home and Spring cleaning around the corner, there couldn't be a more perfect time to start redecorating your home with those cool whites and grey's!.... Super chic and totally modern, this moody shade is the tone shade of the moment and my personal favourite colour combination! Check out our latest staging video below using this colour combination and see how it has the power to enliven any space. And here are some decorating tips using Grey huesThink of a room in grey scale (meaning black, white, and everything in between) as you would think of a monochromatic outfit, say, a grey dress. With no further information, you might picture a corporate uniform: dull, austere, and gloomy. But pair that dress with a shimmery, sequined charcoal cardigan, a faded black leather jacket, and a handful of thick silver chains and you have something else entirely, something that takes minutes to decode, rather than seconds. The results can also be more tasteful and sophisticated than a similar outfit in louder colours. If you draw from too many hues in your wardrobe, you may attain Boho fabulousness—or you may find yourself costumed for the circus. The same truth applies to a room. Grey scale is markedly more flexible than colours: You can pile grey on or pare it back, and it will continue to meet the mood. Vary the shades For a simple option, using five variations of a shade on an equal number of throw pillows. The main neutral Use grey as your main neutral, but add spark by pairing it with colours: Grey plays well with everything from cobalt blue to aqua, flax to taupe, lemon ice to sunflower yellow. Most people choose brown or beige as their predominant neutral, since wood plays a significant role in interior design, but grey is an inspired and exciting alternative, particularly if the rest of your colour palette tends toward cool—or if you’re inclined to paint your wood white or ebonize it. Happy decorating and enjoy the sun when you can! |
