LILI'S FIND: SOHO COCKTAIL TABLE

2/28/2017

While searching the internet on the look for coffee table options for one of my clients, I came across this beautiful table from William Sonoma Home.
Picture
This acrylic coffee table has an almost magical ability to be style-defining, yet nearly invisible. With its chunky slab construction. This coffee table is sculptural and bold, without overwhelming a room.
It pairs perfectly with sleek, mod furnishings, of course, but we also love it juxtaposed with rustic wood, faux fur and nature-inspired art. (as described by William Sonoma Home)

This gorgeous table comes in two sizes: Small 48"L x 20"W x 15" H or Large: 52"L x 40"W x 15"H and is crafted of clear acrylic and braced by polish-nickel bars.
Price ranges from $1695 to $2695 USD.

You can also complete the look with the side table and console table from the same collection.

DECORATING WITH WHITE

2/24/2017

Sometimes, white can come across as a cold colour to decorate with. Most homeowners shy away from it because they are afraid to create a room that is not confortable or welcoming but, paired with the right elements you can give this colour a twist and make it appear warm, cozy and elegant!

One of the greatest benefits of this colour is, that when you paint the walls of a room in white, you are working with a blank canvas and you have the freedom to choose any other colour to complement it  opposed to working with a bold colour or wallpaper on the wall, you will have more trouble finding the right pieces to suit that wall.

White makes old things seem more current and softens architectural quirks, it has the magic to act as an eraser and camouflage the eyesores. White also acts as a highlighter for crown moldings and craftsman details in an older home.

Some great ways to warm up your white rooms is by adding wood elements, wood is always a great idea to do this as it can warm up even the most sporadic white room. Other ways to warm up white rooms is to add natural textures and patterns to the decor to create a room that has depth and interest.

White is great to combine with different metals like brass, stainless steal, gold and copper which are trending right now when it comes to interior decor. This combination will add a warm and inviting feel to any room.

When it comes to painting your walls white, make sure to choose the right shade of white, there are hundreds of shades to choose from and believe it or not, they are all different! Specially when it comes to the light in a room, all whites have an undertone that could be pink, green, yellow, purple all the way to blue.

At the end of the day nothing says clean, airy and bright like white. That is why for me White, is one of my favourite colours to decorate with and I try to implement it in all the rooms I work with.

Marble Everything!!

2/11/2017

I know marble has been around for a long time and just last year I started seeing it everywhere, not just the actual marble slabs we see being used on kitchen counters, fire places, table tops, candle holders, cutting boards and other housewares; but the actual marble print integrated in wallpaper, rugs, decorative pillows and even bedding is coming on really strong this year.

Marble, is now even being used in packaging boxes as well as notebooks, pens and everything you can think of. I believe this design trend is here to stay for a while.... and you know what? I am very happy about that!!

I think the key to keeping this design trend cool and classy, is to use it in small doses around your home in the form of accents or statement pieces. Remember less is more!!

Below, I will share with you my TOP 10 marble decor trends. You can click on the pictures to shop!
Whether you choose faux marble, real marble, dark or light tones, marble decor items can be fused with your existing design at home.

POUFS!!

2/9/2017

Hello!!

Today I want to talk about these cool creation. Poufs are an absolutely necessary decor trend for most home decorators. They are adaptable to any room and space, they come in different shape and sizes, fabric style and colours. You can use them indoor or outdoor to decorate any room in your home.

Poufs have a great advantage, they can be used for extra seating since they are light and easy to move around yet small enough to fit under a table. They make a great foot rest in front of your sofa or chairs as well as a bedroom bench or just add them as accents to the decor in your home. They can be customized with any fabric to add a pop of colour to your decor or using fun textures for a more edgy and fun look.

Did you know
Pouf comes from the French word "pouffe"? and is described by the British Dictionary as “a large solid cushion, usually cylindrical or cubic in shape, used as a seat.”

Poufs are definitely a great choice over an ottoman because it offers a softer less structured version of it.

I personally LOVE poufs!! One of my favourites is hands down the white faux sheepskin style pouf like the one I am showing you here from Neiman Marcus website; you can buy this one online for $250 USD plus shipping and taxes.
I think is fun and it adds a warm touch to your decor.

I love  the way Designer Lonni Paul placed the poufs here when she decorated this living room space for celebrity Giuliana Rancic and love the colour she chose too!!

What do you think? Do you love these poufs as much as I do or would you rather use something else?

Scam targeting Home Stagers

2/7/2017

Good Morning!!

I wanted to share with you that there is a scam going around targeting home stagers.
This morning I received a text message from someone named Barbara, telling me she got my number from Houzz and they were relocating to Canada.
She wanted to know if I was available to do styling (staging) of items they just have ordered for their new apartment starting February 24th. She asked me to confirm I was available sending an email to barbkirby404@gmail.com
When I read this text, I thought something wasn't right so I googled the email address they have provided and found other people that went thru a similar situation, some of them got a bit further involved, investing longer time exchanging emails and getting no-where!

It seems the scam artists are trying everything to see if they can con home stagers into sending them money!
In this scam the home stager/interior designer is contacted by a “homeowner” that lives out of the country by email or text. The sender leads you on about a project and tries to build a rapport all in the hopes of tricking you into handing over your money.
In some of the comments I read, looks like the person contacting the stager/designer is very unclear about the details of the home, they avoid answering the questions that the stager/designer asks and they focus more in whether or not you have credit card processing abilities. One of the stories they tell is about being deaf, having two children and being a single parent.
They are using names like Mary Bruce, Mrs. Mahonne, Catherine Raeder, Alice Smith, Mrs. Kate Anderson, Doran Laurin, Jessica Morgan and Wendy Lydia Wilson,

Please be careful and don't fall into their trap!

If you have a story to share of something similar that happened to you, please leave your comment below.

Thank you and Safe Decorating everyone!
